Booker T. Jones Pays Tribute To Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn

Booker T. Jones is leading tributes from the music world for bass player Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn, who died on Sunday.
The bassist was found dead in his hotel room in Tokyo, Japan. He was 70.
Jones, who played with Dunn in Booker T. & the M.G.’s., took to Twitter.com to honour his pal, writing, “Thank you all for your prayers and condolences. RIP Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn.”
Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash also tweeted, “Donal (sic) ‘Duck’ Dunn was one of the greatest side & session, blues, R&B, soul bassists of all time. RIP.”
Dunn’s close pal Bill Wyman, former bassist for the Rolling Stones, was also heartbroken by the news – a post on the rocker’s website reads, “Bill says he was saddened to hear of his friend’s passing, and Bill and Donald both were in touch daily. Bill has known Donald since the 1970s, and had been emailing Donald the day before his death.”
A tribute posted on Tom Petty’s Twitter page reads, “He will be dearly missed,” while the Rolling Stones offer, “RIP Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn, inspirational and incredibly gifted bass player. Condolences to all who loved him,” and Nickelback add, “RIP Donald ‘Duck’ Dunn. You inspired countless people with your gift of music. Heartfelt condolences to your family, friends and fans.”

John Travolta’s Lawyer Rebuffs Fourth Sex Claim

A lawyer for John Travolta has moved swiftly to discredit a fourth masseur who stepped forward to accuse the actor of propositioning him.
Michael Caputo claims the Grease star was banned from the Peninsula Hotel in New York City for more than three years because of “inappropriate behavior” around spa staff.
He tells The New York Daily News, “Travolta would always request a man for his massage, but after a while no one would take him. It got to the point where they couldn’t find any men to take him, and they had to ban him.”
Caputo, who no longer works at the hotel, has accused Travolta of “removing his towel, grinding against the massage table and lifting his butt in the air”.
He adds, “These are signs to a massage therapist he was trying to see how much he could get away with. They went to management.”
Travolta’s attorney Marty Singer has dismissed Caputo’s claims, branding him a “disgruntled employee”.
He says, “If he was banned, do you think he’d ever go back? He’s never been banned, I guarantee you… The hotel never told John he was banned, and John never acted improperly.”
The latest sensational claims follow those of three other men who came forward to accuse the Hollywood star of sexual misconduct.

LeAnn Rimes Bounces Back From Surgery To Kick Off Tour

Singer Leann Rimes played through the pain as she kicked off her tour in New Jersey on Friday, just days after undergoing oral surgery.
The country star was in agony after mouth surgery on Wednesday and she went back to the dentist the following day to have stitches removed.
However, Rimes refused to let her swollen face keep her from the stage – the Blue hitmaker launched her latest trek by performing an acoustic show at the State Theatre in New Brunswick for a sold-out crowd.
She tweeted, “Wonderful show tonight in NJ, even in pain. Lil (sic) swollen, but ok. Thank you to a great crowd. Going to sleep w/ (with) warm rice in a sock on my face, doc’s orders. It smells like popcorn in here!!!!”

Actress Drew Barrymore celebrated her upcoming nuptials to fiance Will Kopelman with an intimate engagement party in New York City on Friday.
The happy couple shared its excitement with close friends and family at posh eatery Press Lounge just weeks before the pregnant Wedding Singer star is reportedly due to exchange vows with the art consultant next month.
Barrymore’s best pal and former Charlie’s Angels co-star Cameron Diaz was on hand to lend her support to the bride-to-be, who concealed her baby bump in a blue maxi dress and black blazer.
The small bash capped off an exciting day for Barrymore – she was snapped trying on wedding veils at Suzanne Couture Millinery in Manhattan’s Upper East Side with her future mother-in-law Coco on Friday afternoon and she later attended a pre-natal yoga class, according to UsMagazine.com.
This will be Barrymore’s third marriage – she was wed to Los Angeles bar owner Jeremy Thomas for two months back in 1994 and she walked down the aisle with comedian Tom Green in July 2001 but they split later that year.
The actress has also celebrated her engagement to Kopelman on the West Coast – Charlie’s Angeles producer Leonard Goldberg and his wife Wendy threw the beauty a small wedding shower in Los Angeles last month.

Lil Wayne Settles Royalties Lawsuit With Producer

Lil Wayne has settled a $1.5 million lawsuit with a producer who accused the rapper of failing to pay him for work on his 2008 album Tha Carter Iii.
David Kirkwood launched a legal battle against the hitmaker and bosses at Cash Money Records and Young Money Entertainment last year, alleging he was still owed royalties from the track Love Me or Hate Me.
But the How to Love hitmaker and his lawyers finally reached an agreement with Kirkwood this week and together they settled the case out of court, according to TMZ.com.
This marks the second suit he has resolved in recent weeks – Lil Wayne reached a confidential settlement with Grammy winner Darius Harrison in April after he claimed he was owed money for contributions to the same album.
