Gadhafi’s Son Is Being Tried In Libya On Rape And Murder Charges

Blech, having to write about such horrible things puts a bad taste in our mouths.
Moammar Gadhafi‘s son and former heir is being put on trial in Libya for rape and murder charges, and there is hope for a verdict before mid-June.
There IS a problem though, some think that he won’t be given a fair trial — and wish that they’d hand him over to the International Criminal Court in The Hague for trial.
We don’t know if he’ll be tried in military court, either, as there is no chance for appeal there.
Libya wants to do the trial because the majority of of crime committed happened there, but we can definitely see the right in having a tribunal of all the areas where the crimes were committed have a say as well.
He has been held by the Zintan military, which has no involvement with the government, in a secret location in the western Libyan town.

Tila Tequila Opens Up About Her Brain Aneurysm And Rehab

Tila Tequila has had a rough couple of years months.
After overdosing and suffering a rehab program just last month.
It took a huge toll on her body, but, now that she’s (hopefully) better, Tila is speaking out about her health scare and what life is like post-rehab.
“I can remember feeling like the bones were popping out the side of my head because the pain was so bad. I took some medications and tried to go for a nap, but when I woke up I was vomiting. I really thought I was going to die.”
The night it happened, her roommate had come home to find Tila “slipping in and out of consciousness,” before she finally dialed 911 and had her rushed to the hospital.
That’s when doctors discovered that she had suffered a brain aneurysm.
Terrifying!
Now, that she’s lived through that and has successfully completed rehab, Tila says:
“Honestly, I feel like I have been reborn. I should have died and feel blessed to have another chance at life and I intend to grasp it. I got excellent treatment and I did a total detox of all substances and medications. This was really tough but I managed to do it.”
She sounds like a whole new woman. Let’s hope she can keep it up!

Toddler Finds Live Grenade Searching For Easter Eggs

WTF?!
On Sunday a British three year old toddler, hunting for easter eggs, found a live grenade!
The child was standing atop of the dangerous explosive before one of the parents realized what it wasn’t an easter egg and called the police who then called the bomb squad.
Stuart Moffatt, who was with his wife and three children, saw a child standing over the WW2 era grenade. Moffatt rushed the 25-30 kids away from the grenade and away from the danger.
Moffatt says:
“We were beginning to count up the eggs at the end of the hunt and I saw a boy of three standing on an object. It was brown and about 4 inches high. It looked like an Easter egg, but it was a hand grenade — I was shocked. The boy who was standing on it thought it was a rock.”
The bomb squad arrived promptly, secured the area, and safely detonated the bomb.
What a strange sequence of events. We’re glad no one was hurt.
Easter is a time for family and fun, not bombs and explosions! Ah!

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (the guys behind Superbad) are directing their first feature called The Apocalypse and it stars some of the funniest people on the planet — as THEMSELVES!
Seth will face the end of the world with Jay Baruchel, James Franco‘s house.
Is there a better premise for a comedy?
Let’s just hope there are some fun cameos from their other pals like Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, Martin Starr, and McLovin!
The project first came about in the form of a fake trailer for Seth and Jay Vs. The Apocalypse, which featured the titular actors hiding out in an apartment after the biblical end of days. Seth has teased that this movie is being produced since the short hit the web in 2007 and we’re SO EXCITED that it’s finally going to happen!

Amanda Bynes’s Dad Says Daughter Wasn’t Drinking And Driving

arrested and charged with a DUI.
Because, you know, he was there.
Rick Bynes says:
“She was not drunk. I was told that she blew a zero on the Breathalyzer. She didn’t have a single drink that night. My daughter doesn’t drink.”
Really? If she doesn’t drink then why is she so keen on attending bars?
Rick Bynes believes it was the arresting officer’s fault the initial car accident occurred. Amanda’s father says the police vehicle pulled out in front his daughter’s car as she was turning onto a West Hollywood intersection.
Rick Bynes further states:
“She is a good girl. She just chooses not to work, and because of that, people go after her.”
Authorities did not comment so guess we’ll have to wait for Amanda’s court date.
Will she prove to be innocent?
We’ll believe it when we see it.

President Obama Does NOT Support Minnesota’s Anti-Gay Marriage Bill

He’s not making any moves in the White House to allow gay marriage to flourish in this great country, but at least Barack Obama is not condemning it.
As you may have heard, Minnesota is in the middle of trying to pass an anti-gay marriage amendment that states, “Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in Minnesota.”
Fortunately 700 Evangelical Lutheran synod leaders have spoken out against it and now so has the President of the United States of America.
Kristin Sosanie, the Minnesota Communications Director of Obama for America, has said:
“While the President does not weigh in on every single ballot measure in every state, the record is clear that the President has long opposed divisive and discriminatory efforts to deny rights and benefits to same sex couples. That’s what the Minnesota ballot initiative would do – single out and discriminate against committed gay and lesbian couples – and the President does not support it.”
It would be nicer to hear it come directly from Obama’s mouth, but we’ll take what we can get. Although we think he SHOULD, we don’t think he will ever step out in full support of gay marriage, but he’s definitely proven he’s not against the idea.
Maybe, just maybe, he’ll be more vocal in his support if he gets elected to one more term and has nothing left to lose. Again, that’s a BIG maybe.
However, since the big guys running the country won’t step up for equality, that just means WE have to do it ourselves. Do what is right and support same-sex marriage! It’s certainly not hurting anybody and can only bring more happiness into this world.

Dancing With the Stars Week 4: Who Was the Best?

The surprisingly entertaining and evenly-matched 14th season of Dancing With the Stars continued Monday with the top 10 performing Rock Week routines.
The first elimination of the season, Martina Navratilova, we could see coming. Last week, which saw the end of Jack Wagner’s run, was a different story.
A season that many criticized for lacking star power has made up for it with high quality dancing and engaging characters that all leave us wanting more.
Sadly, someone must leave each week, though there is a new twist …
For the next four weeks, the bottom two DWTS vote-getters will dance for their lives, simultaneously, with the judges making the final call on who stays and who goes.
That won’t do much could in cases like last week, when a six-way tie for the lowest score – which was really quite high – made it unfair for anyone to leave.
Still, the judges could bail out an obvious favorite if necessary. Will this rule change even come into play after this Monday’s routines? You tell us below …

J-Lo stated:
“It was just a very natural thing for us to do together. Everything that the song is saying — where I’m at — it was just very natural. It didn’t feel forced.”
Casper – not one to be just Jen’s glorified arm candy – weighed in on the experience, saying:
“Me and Jen work well together. On set we work so well together and they were long shoots 16, 17 18 hours. Maybe it was the chemistry or whatever it was, but it didn’t seem like it was that many hours. Time was going so fast. We worked really well together, it was great.”
Illuminating! We’re so glad you guys “work” well together. And we also love how you’ve substituted the word work for the phrase “have sex.”

Mayer recently posted this ethereal, instrumental recording of Lana Del Rey’s hit tune Video Games, and we have to say…we like it better than the original!
Maybe we like it because it lacks Lana’s unpredictable, breathy voice, or because it takes the song (and us) to an unknown dimension where music is a tangible, physical object – the guitar strumming invades your brain and flutters over your body like it’s got fingers!!
