Rowling Fled Home Over ’sitting Duck’ Fears

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling had to flee her home after press reports made her a “sitting duck” for stalkers.
The writer bought a property in Scotland with the advance royalties from her first Potter novel in the late 1990s, but after the book propelled her to fame, a photograph of the property was published in a newspaper.
Rowling claims her full address could be seen in the shot – and she was forced to moved out because she feared being tracked down by “anyone who wanted to find me”.
The Brit appeared at the Leveson Inquiry into press standards in London on Thursday and told how she has battled to keep her family life private for more than 14 years.
She told the hearing, “That was the first house I had ever owned, and I bought that with the advances that I had received for the first Harry Potter book. We moved into that house in 1997 and we left that house in 1999. So during those two years it had really become untenable to remain in that house.
“Photographs had been published that showed not only the number of the house but also the name of the street. So I really was a sitting duck for anyone who wanted to find me.”
Rowling also alleged a journalist once tried to contact her by slipping a letter into her five-year-old daughter’s school bag.
She adds, “I can only say I felt such a sense of invasion… how angry I felt that my five-year-old daughter’s school was no longer a place of complete security from journalists… It’s difficult to explain – to people who haven’t experienced it – what it feels like. The twist in the stomach – what do they want? It feels threatening to have people watching you.”
Rowling is the latest in a string of celebrities to give evidence at the hearing, which was set up after the News of the World phone-hacking scandal exploded earlier this year.
Olivia Wilde Sympathizes with Kim Kardashian

have signed a petition that says they are very much against Kim Kardashian. But not Olivia Wilde.
The gorgeous actress, who split from her husband of eight years last month, told The New York Post she can sympathize with the useless reality star.
It’s not easy,” Wilde said. “Divorce is the hardest thing in the world… People judge you because divorce is seen as failure. Kim took a risk. No one should be attacking her. Our attention should be focused on things that are truly scandalous.”
Nice try, Olivia. But you didn’t get married on TV… or make millions off your ceremony… or get divorced after 72 days… or insult America’s intelligence by wondering why many are questioning your motives.

Bachchan Gives Birth To Baby Girl

Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has become a first-time mother after giving birth to a baby girl.

The 38-year-old actress, who is married to Abhishek Bachchan, son of veteran Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan, welcomed a daughter at a hospital in Mumbai, India last Wednesday.
The news was announced by the baby’s famous grandfather, Amitabh Bachchan, in a post on his Twitter.com page, he writes, ” I am dada (grandfather) to the cutest baby girl!… Ecstatic!”
Amitabh is already grandfather to his daughter Shweta Nanda’s two children.

Jackson Upset Over Tribute Show Controversy

Michael Jackson’s mother Katherine is “extremely displeased” by reports which suggest crew members who worked on the King Of Pop’s tribute concert last month have not been paid in full.

Staff who manned the event in Wales in October have taken to Twitter.com to accuse organizers at Global Live of failing to compensate them for their work.
Jackson, who helped organize the show, is upset to hear about the complaints and hopes the situation will be rectified.
A lawyer for the Jackson matriarch tells TMZ.com, “After Mrs. Jackson did all she could to help promote and make this a great event for all of Michael’s fans, she is extremely displeased to hear that concert promoters have allegedly failed to pay their bills.
“Katherine is hoping that they step up and take care of their obligations.”
Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green were among the acts who performed at Michael Forever – The Tribute Concert in Cardiff.

Knightley ‘freaked Out’ Over Burglary

Keira Knightley has opened up about the raid on her London home last year, admitting she “freaked out” after discovering burglars had taken all of her jewelry.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star was promoting her movie Last Night at the Rome Film Festival in Italy when the thieves targeted her $1.95 million property in the U.K. capital.
The raiders ransacked the actress’ home and took many of her gems, but Knightley has since refused to replace the precious pieces.
She tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, “Everything was taken and I kind of freaked out. It was horrible so I asked everybody not to give me any jewelry to replace it because it means an awful lot.”

Batman Director Scrapped Occupy Wall Street Filming

Director Christopher Nolan scrapped plans to film scenes for his new Batman film amid the Occupy Wall Street protests in New York because he didn’t want to “trivialise” the demonstrations.

The Dark Knight Rises star Matthew Modine admits he was thrilled to hear he would be shooting scenes in Manhattan’s Zuccotti Park around the chaos of the Occupy movement, because it would aid the financially-strapped activists.
But he thinks Nolan made the right decision not to film there.
Modine tells Indiewire.com, “It seemed like a good idea to give (the protesters) an opportunity for work (as extras), to give them money.
“But we didn’t want to trivialise it. It was more important to respect what they’re doing than to do anything that could potentially trivialise the political situation.”
Ironically, one of the movie’s stars, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, filmed scenes at the site for his arty website HitRECord on Tuesday morning, as police raided the camp in a bid to evict the protesters.
The campaigners were later allowed to return to the park.

Dench’s Sadness At Only Having One Child

Dame Judi Dench will always regret not having more children as her attempts to adopt were turned down.

The Shakespeare In Love star became a first-time mother to daughter Finty at the age of 37, and she and late husband Michael Williams longed for another baby.
Dench was unable to fall pregnant again and the couple subsequently looked into adoption, but officials denied their request and the actress admits not having a second child is “the only regret” she holds in life.
She tells Britain’s Yours magazine, “I wish we’d had lots more children. That’s the only regret I have. But I was older and it didn’t happen.
“We tried to adopt a child and they didn’t like it because we were over 40 – and Michael was a Catholic and I was a Quaker. It obviously wasn’t to be.”
Dench also opens up about her early days as a mother in the interview, revealing, “I’d had a daughter and having a family I wanted to be at home. Michael wouldn’t let me stop (working), though. So in the beginning I tried to arrange things so I was with her during the day and going to the theater in the evening when she was in bed. Later on, when she went to school, I could do things like television during the day to be with her in the evening.”

Gordon-Levitt Captures Wall Street Protest During Police Raid On Camera

Joseph Gordon-Levitt turned out to support activists at the Occupy Wall Street camp in New York on Tuesday morning after learning of the police raid of the site.

The demonstrators took up residence in Manhattan’s Zuccotti Park in September to protest corporate greed and big business inequality, and the campaign has spread around the world, gaining celebrity supporters like Russell Simmons, Susan Sarandon, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand and Kanye West, who have all been to visit the activists.
But the growing movement has been unpopular among New York officials and police officers raided the park in the early hours of Tuesday in a bid to evict the protesters, claiming their camp “poses an increasing health and fire safety hazard” – and the drama prompted Gordon-Levitt to show his support for the activists.
The Inception star was spotted filming the eviction proceedings for his arty website HitRECord, and he tells PolitickerNY.com, “I was actually planning on coming tomorrow (Wednesday) for the first time. It seems like it’s (the movement) growing.”
Protesters returned to the site later on Tuesday after a Supreme Court judge ruled they could reside in the park – but without equipment such as tents and generators.

Taymor Attacks U2 Stars Over Spider-Man Comments

Former Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark musical director Julie Taymor has taken aim at U2 stars Bono and The Edge for remarks they made to the media before she was sacked earlier this year.

The moviemaker and theater visionary created the concept behind the Broadway spectacular and worked with the rockers to bring the musical to the stage, but following a series of mishaps and financial problems the show was shut down this past spring and producers opted to replace Taymor before reworking the project.
She is now suing the producers of the Spider-Man show for more than $1 million , claiming they have violated her artistic and creative rights and owe her cash.
And, in an interview with Esquire magazine, she insists there’s no love lost between her and the U2 stars, who were co-producers of the show.
Attacking the rock duo, who also created the show’s score, over comments they made about her appearing exhausted before she was fired, Taymor tells the publication, “There’s no doubt by the end of February, when I felt all of this stuff happening, that I was exhausted by that, but not by the show and not by the inspiration I was getting from the actors.
“I think that those (quotes) were important to paint a picture of a director who you needed to release in order to make this big change. I had to be characterised that way in order for something to happen.”
